South Saxons L2s on a high from last weeks emphatic away win at Worthing were glad of a home fixture. BHL6 joined Div 3 from the previous season with determination to establish themselves in this division. Pre match team talk from Coach Dan inspired Saxons to dominate from the off. Forwards Abi, Louisa and Pia piled on the pressure with support from Gabby, Ella and Marie. A dynamic run down the left from Abi saw her slip the ball back to Pia to open the scoring with five minutes on the clock. BHL6 stepped up with an organised attack, catching GK Claire off guard with two goals at 11 and 14 minutes. BHL6s pushed on creating end to end action on the pitch. Saxons at 2-1 down their determination shone through with a striking goal from Abi to bring the scoreline at 2-2 for half time.
The second half started with a bang with Saxons dominating most of the play but not quite finishing, tired legs beginning to show. A break through from BHL6 saw them carve their way through the midfield to capitalise with two more goals. Saxons team of defenders Amy, Chloe and Mandy worked tirelessly together supporting each other to clear the attack from BHL6. The Saxons squad of 16 rotated seamlessly which included Daisy, newcomer Tilly, Emma and Kat. Beckie also adding great strength in the middle. Saxons continued determination and passion saw opportunities with several short corners and goal mouth scramble to allow BHL6 to clear. BHL6 continuing their pressure and once again their tenacity won with a further three goals added to their score line. Saxons again took charge with renewed spirit. Louisa pounced on a loose ball outside the D, drove to the baseline to cross in for Abi to tip in another goal. With the final score left at 6-3 for a BHL6 win did not depict the justice of the whole game.
Saxons will regroup and head to Eastbourne next week with revitalised vision.
Player of the match deservedly awarded to Chloe.
