South Saxons Ladies 1’s - 7 Worthing Ladies 2’s – 0

Saxons started the game with confidence and built some great attacks, using slick passing throughout the team and good support play. This meant the Worthing GK was called on to make numerous blocks. Crosses were coming in fast and hard, and the forwards were running off the ball well but Saxons could not quite get the ball into the net.

After about 20minutes of concerted attacks and with Worthing only getting 1 shot on goal, Saxons made the breakthrough when a penalty flick was given after a shot on target was blocked by something other than the stick! This was calmly converted by Ellie Studholme and Saxons never looked back.

A second goal was added before half time, with some superb one touch passing allowing the ball to beat the defence and bypass the stranded Worthing GK.

After a positive team talk by Captain, Heather, at half time, emphasising the need to keep the attack going, the excellent passing continued with the ball switching left and right, and players always ready to receive a ball in support.

Saxons scored three goals in quick succession, after some sustained pressure on the Worthing defence and a further two were added just before full time, each different and extremely well taken.

The final score of 7-0, was a tribute to an excellent team performance and puts Saxons in second place in Division 1, with a game in hand and 9 points after 3 games.
