In glorious Spring sunshine, Sol Buckner's men sprang out the starting blocks and stunned their high-flying hosts within a minute of push back.
Veteran striker Joe Woodford smashed the ball home from close range after a goal mouth melee.
EG hit back almost immediately on the break before Buckner bagged his 10th of the season with a trademark tap in on 11 minutes following another goal mouth scramble involving the home keeper.
But EG again hit back to level after a short corner and minutes later nudged ahead with a third goal on the break to make it 3-2 at half time.
The hosts stepped up a gear in the second half and fired home another five goals without reply to notch up their 90th goal in 19 games in Sussex Hockey Division Five.
Veteran defender Nigel Kellett earned man-of-the-match.
Buckner said: "We gave it a real go in the first half but they would've been more than a match for our second and third team.
"We were totally outclassed in the second half but so have every other team that has visited EG this season."
