In bright winter sunshine at Horntye Park, Sol Buckner's men laid siege on the visitors goal from the start.
And it was veteran winger Paul Merison who kick started the goal fest on 10 minutes hammering home a rebound from a short corner almost breaking the netting.
Promising teenager Tom Giles swept home a second on 15 minutes before Buckner cracked in a short corner shot on 24 minutes.
And Parkwood Academy prodigy and staunch Leicester City fan, Joe Lovell was then left cursing his luck after a reflex shot cannoned off the post.
A hailstone shower then saw both teams off for an early half time.
But the enforced break slowed Saxons momentum.
Southwick pressed for a goal after the restart and almost had their reward on 39 minutes.
Keeper Richard Heath managed to thwart a two-on-one attack during a quick Southwick break.
Saxons forced their way back up the pitch but struggled to break through a stubborn defence.
Buckner had two fine efforts saved in quick succession as his side piled on the pressure.
Substitute Dom Whitaker finally grabbed the fourth on 52 minutes tapping home after superb approach play involving Phil Carrington and Tom Giles.
And Buckner smashed home his second on the hour to wrap up the scoring.
Teenager Jamie Ball earned man of match for his tirelesss performance at left half.
Buckner said: "We are on a good run at the moment playing some fine, attacking hockey. We are coming good at the right end of the season and deserve a top three finish. The guys are working hard in training, work well as a team and everyone can see that on Saturdays. I am a very happy and proud captain at the moment."
Saxons travel to Crowborough IV on Saturday with a 10.30am start.
