Saxons, revitalised since Christmas, lost just two out of their last eight games with both against the run of play.

On Saturday, Buckner's spirited side raced out of the blocks pressing from the start.

Teenage winger Tom Waters deflected in Jo Woodford's cross on five minutes to open the scoring.

Then Woodford latched on to Paul Merison's pass to make it 0-2.

Buckner's well taken short corner on 22 minutes was a fraction over the back board.

Saxons worked hard for more but could not find a way past a keeper in inspired form.
Teenage keeper Alex Jenner had very little to do on his senior debut after stepping up from the Warriors.

The second half saw Saxons storm forward again but had to work hard to get past the Southwick keeper.
Eventually Sol Buckner found a gap at the near post and rifled home the third on 57 minutes.

And minutes later the skipper grabbed his 10th of the season tapping home from close range after a short corner rebound.

Saxons should finish in fourth spot unless St Francis can win their two remaining games.

Buckner said: "It's been a season of two halves but we've thoroughly enjoyed every minute."
