Saxons pressed in the opening 10 minutes but spurned a number of chances.
The defence worked hard guided well by veteran Bruce Child making his first appearance in 12 months.
Child, who earned-man-of-the-match, working alongside Philip Carrington helped repel the hosts.
But it took 30 minutes before Saxons broke the deadlock when Jo Woodford latched on to a pass and calmly slotted past the keeper.
The second half saw St Francis push for an equaliser and it came on the hour. A defensive lapse allowed a striker to sneak the ball past veteran keeper Graham Deaves.
Saxons had chances to seal all three points but again struggled to take them.
