Match report from Sol Buckner. Buckner's kind gesture of Port for the opposition seemed to galvanise their cause in the second half of this Sussex Hockey Division Four fixture.

Saxons faced a strong youthful Worthing side who poured forward on the break at every opportunity.

George Sutton was again immense in goal pulling off a number of saves to keep the well-organised visitors at bay. And against the run of play Saxons took the lead in the 15th minute when Peter Klein got a touch onto Julian Hooton's screamer of a cross which flew into the net.

Buckner's men held out until the break but it was one way traffic almost from the re-start.

Worthing dominated the midfield and soon had their rewards scoring after a quick break.

Saxons couldn't get to grips with the visitors speed and soon found themselves 1-2 down after another break in the 45th minute.

Worthing poured forward and deservedly scored a third on the break.

Saxons are next in action at Horntye Park on January 7 with a 1.30pm push back against Southwick III
