On a grey Winter’s day at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre, Phil Carrington’s side shone from the start and were immediately rewarded.
Winger Tom Waters surged down the right wing and fired in a shot which rebounded to Sol Buckner who gratefully swept home from close range.

But the hosts hit back minutes later from a short corner in a lively opening proving they would be no pushovers.
Saxons then poured forward and when Matt O’Brien jinked into the D, Buckner was on hand to flick the ball home from six yards out.
However Horsham equalised on 17 minutes when Saxons defence was caught out and a striker slotted past Richard Heath.

Paul Merison then had a chance to put the visitors ahead on 30 minutes when a goal bound shot hit a defender’s foot. Unfortunately the penalty hit the post and the teams went into the well-deserved break level at 2-2.

The second half saw the team turn in their best 35 minutes of the season as they brushed aside their hosts with three more well taken goals.

Waters tapped home Merison’s cross on 40 minutes before turning provider 10 minutes later. The 21-year-old latched onto Buckner’s cross field pass before again terrorising the Horsham defence and tee-ing up veteran goalscorer Joe Woodford from close range.

And O’Brien wrapped up the scoring on the final whistle smashing home the fifth from a short corner.

Saxons face Eastbourne Eaglets tomorrow (SAT) with a 10.30am push-back.
