Saxons won this local derby to climb the table and dedicated the win to former player Mark Roberts who sadly passed away last weekend.
The home side started fast with the midfield pair of captain Phil Carrington and Ben Kemsley calling the shots and creating chances for Coach Rob Whitehouse, Joe Woodford and the evergreen Paul Merison.
An Eastbourne break saw Saxons concede a sloppy goal, but this fired Saxons up, and a slick passing move saw young Jaime Samms cross for Whitehouse to tap home at the far post.
Despite the efforts of man of the match Dan Bontoft, Eastbourne regained the lead just before the HT break.
The usual inspired team talk saw Saxons play with more confidence and soon equalised when Jules Buss found Whitehouse to score from the top of the D.
Again the away side scored but Saxons roared back and Kemsley latching on to a loose ball scored a cracking goal on his reverse stick.
Saxons fitness and determination showed when a perfect 'square pass' from Buss set Merison up to score from the top of the D.
Saxons had by now spotted the weakness in the Eastbourne side and a diagonal run by Merison to the top of the D, and a flick over the centre backs flat stick set Kemsley up for another reverse stick goal.
Whitehouse commented "the way the team kept fighting was great and to keep going for the whole 70 minutes puts us in good stead for the season"
