After a long drive along the coast for the early start, Saxons quickly settled into the game. The first period ended with Saxons 0-3 ahead with goals from James Heathfield with a short, 2 from Dan Chamberlain, the 2nd of which was provided by young Lucas Patel who sweetly took the ball back under control and a great run at the D.
The Second period was a more even affair as the home team managed to take advantage of what was initially a fantastic save by Eddie Carr Taylor as they followed the spill. Saxons finished the game off with a goal from Will Richardson following a deflected Elliott Noble attempt. 1-4 Victory at the final whistle.
A real team effort across the board for the first game. The energy and passing was exceptional and the team showed great discipline despite some firm Umpiring and several green cards issued to the home side. One umpire complimenting South Saxons for this after the game.
Notable performances from Will Richardson, James Heathfield and Charlie Ogilvie.
Man of the Match was well earned by Elliott Noble, who showed a balanced game inclusive of his team mates, but also demonstrating his individual skills causing Middleton a problem in the D.
Great work Team!!!
