Saxons march on in league

Saxons made it two wins from two games under new coach Rob Whitehouse with a win against their local rivals. Full of confidence after last weeks win, Saxons came out strongly, with new player Alex Bull showing some nice touches to compliment the skills of Paul Merison in midfield. The experienced front paring of Joe Woodford and man of the match Jeremy Bunday pulling the Eastbourne defence apart with expert movement allowing Tom Waters and the young Seb Wright to attack from the wings. Saxons had complete control and duly took the lead when a quick pass from Bull released Bunday and his skill and awareness saw him outsmart the keeper and put the home side one up, much to the delight of the home supporters. After a half time team talk and reminder to use the width, Saxons pushed on with Julian Hooton and the returning Tom Radeamaker creating space and half chances. When Eastbourne attacked on the conter, The defence of Keeper Mike Sutton, Les Cornish, Mo Pickard and the evergreen Nigel Kellett stopped them in their tracks. Captain Phil Carrington showed his class and his runs and passing were causing the away side a headache. An attack up the right wing saw Bunday slip the ball to Woodford who made no mistake on the reverse stick. Another slick passing move saw Debutent Seb Wright score his first for the club with a neat first time finish. Eastbourne scored a rather fortunate short corner but Saxons ran out comfertable winners. Coach Whitehouse who was understandably pleased with the win commented " All the hard work and trust in a new formation is payng off and the players deserve to be top of the league, but it's early in the season and we will look to improve every week, starting tomorrow away to Mid Sussex"
