A debut goal from 14 year old Lawrie English-Smith, a 10 yard strike from Dom Whittaker, and a tap in from Paul Merison helped Saxons to a fine 3-1 win over first opponents Worthing 4th XI.

A goalless draw against Eastbourne and a commendable display in a 2-0 loss against runaway group winners Brighton with teenage goalkeeper Ben Bosden in inspired form.

Paul Merison grabbed the only goal in a close game against final opponents East Grinstead.

Saxons finished second in their group behind Brighton to cap a fine season in which they finished fourth in Sussex Open Hockey Division Five.

Ben Bosden was their player of the tournament.

Saxons skipper Sol Buckner said "We're already looking forward to next season."
