Saxons started strongly taking the lead on 8 minutes when a beautiful worked move allowed Tony Wright to set up Oliver Cornelius to slot home from short range.
Saxons maintained their press holding East Grinstead high upfield chasing down East Grinstead passes and forcing errors. Another smooth passing manoeuvre saw Brock Smith slip the ball past the visitors keeper to make the score 2-0.
A fight back from East Grinstead allowed a forward to pull a goal back before the break.
The half time score of 2-1 was a fair reflection of the game. Saxons had maintained the lions share of play and a rousing speech from Vice Captain Coleman and the experienced Ed Stroud sent the boys back into the fray with instructions to open up a 2 goal cushion.
Saxons did not disappoint. Cornelius firing a superb shot past the East Grinstead keeper did just that.
East Grinstead changed tact and fought back to score a second goal. Further sorties into the Saxons 23m area saw man of the match Trevor Davies take a fierce shot to the hand and chest.
Saxons re-organised and pressured East Grinstead. Paul Merison played a bullet of a pass from outside the D to the visitors near post that saw Tony Wright spectacularly deflect the ball past the stunned keeper.
The game finished 4-2.
