Saxons took some time to settle. Defensive errors allowed Horsham a penalty corner that was neatly flicked into the back of the net from the top of the D.
Saxons fought back with young warriors Olli Cornelius and Isaac Wall showing their skills in defence and attack. Saxons won a series of penalty corners that they were unable to convert.
Horsham pushed forward teaching Saxons a lesson in passing and retaining the ball. The defence was called into action and youngster George Sutton to make some good saves and keep Saxons in the game.
Finally a break forward saw Julian Buss cross a shot on his reverse for Paul Merison to deflect goal bound. The ball was stopped by a Horsham foot on the line for Mersion to pounce and poke the ball into the goal.
The score was 1-1. Horsham responded shortly after with a well worked break of their own and a goal bound shot ricochet of the inside of the post and crossed the the goal line.
Saxons deservedly 2-1 down at half time. A 'rocket' of a team talk from Captain Buss woke the team up.
The second half saw Saxons up their game and pile on pressure to Horsham who despite a squad of 15 seemed to run out of steam.
Saxons made many forays into the opposing D but their previous goal scoring form eluded them.
The pressure on Horsham finally told after some inspiring play by Buss and Wall earned Saxons a short corner. A slipped ball to Kemsley allowed him to set up man of the match Cornelious to score the equaliser.
Blood had been drawn and Saxons pinned Horsham in the opposing half. A tense few minutes ensued. Finally a through ball allowed Lochi Whitehead to out pace his marker and turn towards goal performing what could only be described as an 'air' shot.
The game ended 2-2 with Saxons and Horsham taking a share of the points.
