Match Report from: Jamie Sheldon.
If last week was a triumph of youth and determination, this week was a showcase of experience and wiliness.
The 3s, encouraged by their previous week’s win, began the game with much focus. For 15 minutes the Saxons were stalking the sandy plains of Horntye, looking for the opportunity to pounce. Eventually it came; a short corner shot popped up outside the far post, before Dom, poached it out of the air like a hawk and guided it into the net.
The hunt continued as Ali (the rhino) charged through the midfield and hit the ball from the top of the D. Every player stood still, like gazelles hearing a rustle, as the shot sailed into the corner of the goal.
A third goal came when a hard pass from midfield was directed towards the back post and Dom managed to deflect it in. We still don’t know why a defensive midfielder was by the goal but it worked.
A battle ensued as the opposition quickly scored 2 goals before the end of the first half. The Saxon’s defenders, as strong and wise as elephants, held off the opposition. Ben with his hyena-like cunning, fired out pass after pass, many deceiving their defenders (and sometimes his own teammates) creating an abundance of attacking opportunities.
A final goal came when a string of quick passes led to Ali sliding the ball past the keeper. The game ended at 4-2, another win for the 3s. The Captain returns to his herd next week, hopefully he can inspire another fierce and beastly performance.
