Saxons got off to a strong start in the first half and maintained composure making a number of attacks and counters in the EG half. East Grinstead finding it difficult to break down Saxons resolve. We saw some skilful play from returning player and our player of the match Alistair Burnett. Despite Saxons resolve the first half ended 0-0.
Saxons returned to the pitch and EG put the team under pressure from the restart, their skilful and well coached youngsters breaking down Saxons and scoring their first goal in a counter attack from open play. Saxons spent much of the second half under siege and a flurry of well worked EG penalty corners enabled them to create opportunity and score a second.
At full time it was a deserved 0-2 to EG, with Saxons left to fight another day. Saxons next play Brighton and Hove away at Blatchington Mill.
