Despite the home side making the better start it was King’s that opened the scoring after some swift passing. Saxons drew level quickly though with Olli Beal converting a short corner opportunity.
At half time the message was to continue to keep the game tight and take the chances when they came. The second goal came from Andy Acott breaking down play in the middle, before finding Jamie Busbridge, who lifted the ball over a defenders stick for man of the match Alex Coombs to apply the finish. Saxons then scored again from a short corner which found the taker Tobias Reed in space to convert. Saxons played the ball around well in an effort to maintain their advantage but a high press led to King’s reducing the margin. Saxons found another goal after a good run from Paddy Cornish found Olli Beal who claimed his 2nd goal of the game.
King’s applied a full press on the Saxons defence and found another goal but they failed to find an equaliser as debutant Goalkeeper Nate Webster saw off a string of short corners. The game finishing 4-3 to Saxons.
Saxons next game is at home to Horsham 1st XI, South Premier opposition in the Sussex Cup semi final on 7th January.
