Match Report from Olli Beal. After an unfortunate game the week before, Saxons were optimistic about welcoming Gillingham Anchorians with a packed out home crowd in support.

Saxons were quick to apply the pressure from the first whistle and were passing well out of the defence & midfield, making strong inroads towards the attacking D.

With Saxons pushing up, they managed to win a short corner which was converted from the top by Olli Beal in to the bottom right corner. Soon the visitors levelled with a counter attack and ball across the goal finding a man unmarked on the far post.

More great chances for Saxons were coming thick and fast with Beal running the baseline then dragging it back with the ball just out of the reach of Jamie Busbridge.

As the second half started Saxons were quick to press again with the majority of the possession in the attacking third. Great runs in from Alex Coombs, Paddy Cornish, & Andy Acott all led to shots on goal but the Keeper saved well.

With another short corner won, a well worked routine at the top of the D found Tudor Stainsby on the left slip who launched the ball into the back of the net. The opposition then won a short corner which was unfortunately deflected in off a defender to level the scores once more.

Saxons pressed fully up the pitch and from a cross from Busbridge, Beal's deflection hit the post. In the last 2 minutes of the game Saxons won another short corner. After a breakdown at the top Coombs improvised and scored with an audacious reverse in to the near post.

Saxons saw out the final minutes, despite conceding a short corner, to secure the 3 points. They travel to top of the league Sutton Valence next.

Man of the Match was Olli Beal.

Next week Toby Reed and Jon Meredith are unavailable and James riley has returned to university.
