Despite losing the toss for the first time we still managed to get pushback somehow and quickly showed that we could push their defence and win short corners. Eastbourne came back at us with a couple of fast, very skilful youngsters as well as a couple of veterans. We held firm and Billy only had one important save to make in the first half.

After the break we really started to show results with out passing game. At half time Arlo proposed a different approach for getting the ball into their D and that certainly work better for us. It was disappointing that Eastbourne managed to score first and with not long to go in the game we continued to attack. Eventually we equalised through Andrew's attempt hitting the Keeper's pads and kindly bouncing out to Tim near the P spot with an empty net to hit. (Adrian described the goal in much more detail over a pint but luckily I've forgotten that version!)

With only one substitute we were all called upon to work hard, including Quintin with a cold, Ed who had a painful strike on the hand and Myles who's legs has enough late in the 2nd half. This new team continued to show spirit and resilience as well as adding a very effective passing game which demonstrated a new level of team work - as well as having fun every time we wear the Saxon's colours.

Many congratulations to Sylvain as our star player on his debut who not only showed versatility in defence and midfield but also stopped a few dangerous attacks down our right flank. A very good game for one of the group who only joined Back2Hockey training just a few months ago.

For our first home game we face Crowborough next Saturday morning. If a draw felt good, now we need to experience our first win!
