The Bows sprung back into action with their first game of the season against Brighton on Saturday.
Despite The Bows having most of the possession for the first half, Brighton managed to get a goal on a rare visit to our D.
We went into half-time 1-0 down but definitely not despondant and, after some tactical input from Kathryn Darkins and Sarah Jacques, the girls went back onto the pitch determined to turn the game around.
The Bows dominated the second half through hard work and team play. Even so, they almost went 2-0 down, but were a series of great saves from Murphy (standing in for Sarah). Eventually, their effort paid off, when Ella smashed in a very cleanly executed short corner from the top of the D.
The game finished 1-1 but could easily have been a win. A great start for The Bows which shows lots of promise for the rest of the season.
Star player of the day goes to Daisy Darkins for controlling the game from the centre of the pitch with great distribution of the ball and dogged determination in defense.
