The Federation of International Hockey (FIH) announced changes to the rules of hockey from 1 January 2019, England Hockey has confirmed that no changes will be made to the domestic game during the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

In summary the FIH has announced the following significant changes:

Match timings to be quarters, to mirror international game
Removal of Player with Goalkeeper Privileges (PwGKP)
Amendments to Attacking Free Hits and Defending Free Hits within the 23m area
