Heather Pilbeam – In Memoriam

Heather Pilbeam – In Memoriam

Ben Hoath2 Jan 2023 - 16:26

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Heather Pilbeam on 27 December 2022.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Heather Pilbeam on 27th December, having fought her cancer as she lived her life, never giving in, remaining upbeat throughout and being determined to enjoy time with her family and friends.

She will be missed by so many of us.

Heather played for Saxons for many years, playing with a huge commitment to enjoying her games and the social side of the club.

At an appropriate time the club will come together to celebrate her life and remember her. This will be arranged with her family and details will follow.

Our thoughts are with Tim and Heather's family at this time

From Richard Pilbeam, posted on Facebook 30 December 2022:

This is one of the hardest posts and one we wish we would never have to write, but on the 27th December we lost Heather to her battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with us by her side.

For those who wish to celebrate her life, the funeral will be at St Oswald’s Church, Hooe on Friday 13th January at 12:00noon followed by further celebrations back at our family home – Pashley Farm.
Donations to Macmillan Cancer Support would be preferred, as opposed to flowers on the day.

She was never shy to pop the cork for all to enjoy a glass of fizz – along with some questionable dance moves, normally enticed along by ABBA – so we would love for anyone who does attend to brighten up the day (as she so often did) with a touch of colour.

Love from her boys – Tim, Ben, Oliver and Richard x

From Tim: “Those of you who were fortunate enough (or maybe more unfortunate enough) of sharing a hockey pitch with her will remember Heather for her firm, robust tackling, with her bellowing echoing around the club. That’s our girl!”
