Saxons' season started with a trip to Littlehampton in the Sussex plate

Saxons' season started with a trip to Littlehampton in the Sussex plate They were without captain Paddy Cornish so new vice captain Gavin Cload lead a young Saxons side. The away side started strong, and a flowing passing move involving Alex Coombs and Tim Plail ended with the latter finding Rob Whitehouse who scored past a static keeper with his first touch. The defence of man of the match Sam Bunday, Tobias Reed and Cload stopped the home attacks as Saxons new look grew in confidence with Jamie Busbridge playing in a deeper role then usual. Another quick passing move saw a Plail cross fall to Harry Reece to score his fist goal for the 1st team. A George Eldridge drag flick from a short corner extended Saxons lead before a reverse stick shot from a tight angle pulled a goal back for Bognor. The second half was more even as Bognor packed the midfield and pressed higher up the pitch, a Reece shot was saved and Whitehouse tucked away the rebound, two quick goals from the home side made it a nervy few minutes before Coombs drilled through the Bognor defence before slipping the ball past the keeper. Cload was pleased with the win and commented after the game "it was an extremely good team performance, with a number of players having to adapt quickly to unfamiliar roles".
